The ExpressCard interface is the official successor of the PCMCIA interface and was introduced by Intel with its Sonoma technology. The main advantage of this format is its higher data transfer rate of 344,105 bps, which ensures high throughput without delays. The interface is based on the new PCI Express standard, unlike the old format which is based on PCI. The ExpressCard54 reader SCT3340 offers all the advantages of the ExpressCard standard. Using this standard, devices are powerful and easy to use, but smaller than conventional PCMCIA-based cards. Additionally, the ExpressCard54 is hot-pluggable, meaning you can insert the card after booting and it will be automatically detected and configured.
